Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Are there age restrictions to rent a room?
    The Reef rents to mature adults and families. Every guest that is occupying the room must be age 21+, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  2. What about pets?
    The Reef appreciates that our four legged friends are an important part of the family. We now offer a limited quantity of dog friendly guestrooms. We only accept non-aggressive breeds of dogs. We do not accept Rotweiler, Pit Bull, Boxer, German Shepherd or Chow breeds. Other pets such as cats, birds and reptiles are not allowed. A pet fee of $20, plus tax, per night/per pet will be added to your reservation. Advanced reservations are required. 40 lb weight limit Carriers are required in the event you must leave your god alone in the guestroom. Pets much be on a leash when in a public area of the hotel and are not allowed in the pool area.
  3. What parking arrangements are available?
    Parking is available on a first come, first serve basis. A valid parking pass is issued at the time of check-in and must be displayed at all times. Each guestroom will receive one parking pass for one vehicle. Two parking passes are only given for guests renting the two bedroom suite. Please be aware that this is strictly enforced. If you need to bring more vehicles than allowed per our guidelines, additional public parking is available for a fee.   4. I've read that the parking deck is small and that the overflow lot is across the street.
    The Reef has a 2-level attached parking garage. The clearance of the garage is 6' 4". Over height vehicles can be accommodated in a surface lot across the street from the hotel. Parking is on a first come, first serve basis. In the event that the attached main parking deck is full, all valid parking passes are valid in our overflow lot across the street. The overflow parking deck is located a block from the Reef and is well lit. Golf carts are not permitted and will not be issued parking passes.
  5. Does the hotel provide beach supplies such as chairs, umbrellas and beach towels?
    Chairs and umbrellas for use at the beach can be rented from the Lifeguards who are stationed along the beach. There is a fee for these rentals and it does vary by season. Guests may also purchase chairs/umbrellas from a local retailer, which sometimes can be more affordable. Please bring towels for beach use with you, as the hotel does not supply them. The number of towels that is given is based upon the actual number of guests who are registered to the guestroom. If you anticipate needing additional towels, please bring them.
  6. What is the smoking policy?
    To better accommodate the needs of all guests, the Reef is a non-smoking hotel. All smoking, electronic cigarette, vaporizer and smokeless tobacco use of any kind is prohibited in all rooms, balconies, and all common areas of the hotel including the pool, decks, hallways and entryways. Violation of this policy will result in a cleaning fee of $150.00 and eviction.
  7. I've read some complaints about room condition. Has anything been done about this?
    The Reef is not a new property. If you desire a new hotel with the most updated features and amenities, the Reef is probably not the right fit for you. Maintenance and renovations are always an ongoing process and improvements are constantly being made. The entire staff and management prides ourselves on offering a clean, comfortable room and guest service that exceeds expectations. Our rates are positioned to offer guest value, and every room in the hotel offers a full, breathtaking oceanfront view.
  8. Will my room have a direct view of the ocean?
    Yes. Every room at the Reef is located oceanfront with a full ocean view. Each guestroom has a balcony.
  9. What is check-in time?
    Our arrival time is 4pm for all reservations.
  10. What is the cancellation policy?
    Should you need to cancel a reservation, it must be cancelled 14 or more days prior to arrival to avoid a cancellation penalty. We regret that we cannot refund for early departures.
  11. Is full housekeeping provided daily?
    No. Light housekeeping of fresh towels and trash removal is provided daily. Full housekeeping services are offered one time during a weekly stay.
  12. What is the payment requirement when making an advanced reservation?
    The Reef Myrtle Beach requires all room reservations to be guaranteed by a valid credit card. Your credit card is used as a guarantee that a room will be held in advance of your arrival. Your credit card will be charged if a deposit or pre-payment is required for a specific date or event. In the event that you do not cancel your reservation within the stated cancellation time period, and do not check into the room, the credit card will be billed for the room.
  13. Can I use a debit card when making a reservation?
    When using a debit card, your bank will place a hold for room and tax charges, plus an additional fee to cover incidental charges. The hotel is not responsible for overdraft charges incurred due to the hold. Please be aware that it may take up to 10 business days following your departure for your bank to release these funds.
